Carly Morris (b.1979, Blackpool) is a contemporary, figurative artist.

 

Soft pencils, pastels and charcoal are used in their rendering of authentic portraits, figures, interiors and landscapes on paper. Approaching themes of everyday reality through compositions that explore and contrast different visual elements. As a colourist working in oil paint, Morris employs a process of mark-making, layering, erasing and overpainting to create atmospheric and evocative works on canvas. Often working directly from life, as well as from drawings and photographs, this painter strives to express a sense of presence and emotional depth that extends beyond the photographic image.
